Gardening Goodness: February Article
February is somewhat unpredictable. It’s still cold (there’s maybe even a chance of snow), but there is also a handful of days which present that glorious beaming sun and crisp, chilly air.
That being said, February can be a tricky month for the garden. The mix of winter and the start of spring is beginning to trigger the bulbs to emerge from the ground, with the longer- lasting days also adding to the gardening equation.
The team at The Directory Group, have put a small list together to show you how you can use this time to get your garden back up and running. Here are a few tips to get you set up for spring:
1. Make the beds: as long as the ground isn’t frozen, you can start to cultivate your beds and warm up the soil with fleece, cloches or polythene,in preparation for the sowing season.
2. Maintenance inspection: be sure to check all your garden tools and machinery are working and are in tip-top condition. Give a little TLC to the ones that need it!
3. Beat the weeds to it: Get a head start and tackle those sneaky weeds that are hiding in your beds. Dig them up, roots and all, before the weather warms up.
