“I have loved and been in love. There is a big difference.” - Katharine Hepburn
Him & Me – The Tracy & Hepburn Story is a new play by Charly Armstrong and Dan Scott, the latest production to be streamed by Titchfield Festival Theatre. It tells the interesting story of the relationship between actors Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy.
He was elusive. She was unconventional. Together they formed an on-screen partnership that captivated movie-goers for more than twenty-five years. But what audiences didn’t know is that all of it was real.
One of Hollywood's best kept open-secrets, Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn were an unlikely pairing. Though their relationship was fraught with difficulties, they remained devoted to one another all their lives.
Hepburn was fiercely independent, Tracy was married. But, then again, in the golden age of Hollywood: romance was never like the movies.
Charly Armstrong, co-director of Him & Me, said,
“The world of Hollywood fascinates us not only for the movies that have been produced there, but the relationships which were formed during many of the productions. This is a story of two of its most famous actors: Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. They kept their love for each other secret – despite the fact that their onscreen chemistry was clear for all to see. This is a show which audiences will enjoy, a real step back to the golden age of Hollywood.”
All of Titchfield Festival Theatre’s productions are to be streamed in the coming weeks. Further information for streaming can be found here. The show is being streamed every evening at 7.30pm from 25th to 31st January.
