Bunting, balloons, and entertainment isn’t all you need for a street party

Havant Borough Council is encouraging residents who are thinking about or starting to organise a street party to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, to start planning now.

The council's website is full of useful advice on what you need to think about as part of your party planning, to ensure neighbourhoods have a memorable and enjoyable day.

Information on insurance, food safety, noise and sustainability is available on the website, together with application forms for road closures, bunting hanging and funding that could be available

Councillor Gwen Robinson, Cabinet Lead for Affordable Housing, Communities and CIL at Havant Borough Council, said: “This is the first time any British monarch has celebrated a platinum jubilee, and we hope that our residents celebrate too.

“The traditional style of having street parties can be a very simple and easy way to bring communities together, providing they are organised correctly. I would urge anyone thinking of holding a street party over the bank holiday weekend of Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June 2022 to visit our website or get in touch for help and assistance.”

Buckingham Palace has announced details of the Jubilee celebrations which include a pudding competition, a Service of Thanksgiving, a concert, and the lighting of Platinum Jubilee beacons across the UK.
