PeCAN - become more energy efficient
The rising cost of energy bills is leading many of us to look at how we can become more energy efficient.
Did you know that heating our homes is the most expensive contributor to our energy bills during the winter?
When it is cold outside, houses lose heat through the roof, walls, floor, windows and doors.
Losing heat at home means we need to produce more to keep warm - so minimising heat loss is one of the most effective ways of reducing your energy bills.
Petersfield Climate Action Network (PeCAN) is running a project to enable homeowners to have a Whole House Retrofit Plan carried out on your home to help you see what changes you could make to improve your home’s energy efficiency and cut your energy bills.
Patricia Exley, project officer for PASH, said: “We understand that the rising cost of energy bills is concerning and worrying for people.
“Here at PeCAN, we want to help people in the community and beyond to find ways to improve the energy efficiency of their homes which in turn will reduce their bills as well as improving their carbon footprint.
“Our retrofit coordinators will provide impartial advice and will produce a comprehensive survey detailing what you need to do to your home and a phased plan on how best to carry out any changes.”
There are a variety of financial initiatives available and we can help you identify what you could be entitled to.
A limited pot of capital funding is available to help towards the costs of implementing the Whole House Retrofit Plan.
The project covers a wide area including all of East Hampshire as well as parts of West Sussex and Surrey.
A professional retrofit coordinator carries out an independent, impartial assessment looking at:
● Loft insulation
● Cavity wall insulation
● Double glazing
● Ventilation
● Solar panels to generate renewable energy on the roof
● Changing a gas or oil heating system for a low carbon heat system such as a heat pump
Meanwhile, PeCAN will be at The Green Homes Talk and Tour event on Wednesday, April 12th at The Sustainability Centre from 1pm until 3.30pm. We will be there to talk to the public and offer advice on home retrofitting.
